I’m not sure I completely agree with this. This quote is about the writer, not the artist. It’s also about ideas, not forms of art. I understand that it’s true that some people (Shakespeare and Melville come to mind) create on the grand scale while others (Walt Disney and Shakespeare again) create on the small scale. But I think the idea of this quote is about the writer’s imagination or talent, not his medium or mediums.
